Hovnanian Enterprises, Inc., HEI was founded by Kevork Hovnanian in 1959, registered in New Jersey in 1967 and re-registered in Delaware in 1983. All of its residential construction and financial services businesses are conducted through subsidiaries. Through its subsidiaries, HEI designs, builds, markets and sells single-family detached homes, townhouses and apartments, urban landfills and active lifestyle homes in planned residential developments, and is one of the largest homebuilders in the United States. Since the establishment of HEI's predecessor company, the company, together with its loose joint ventures, has delivered more than 369,000 homes, including 7,649 homes in fiscal 2023. The company has two distinct businesses: residential construction and financial services. The company's residential construction business consists of six segments: Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, Southeast, Southwest and West. The company's financial services division provides mortgage and title services to clients in the home construction business.
