Founded on August 2, 2012, Ellington Credit Company specializes in acquiring, investing in and managing residential mortgage loans and real estate related assets. The Company's primary objective is to invest and generate attractive current yields and risk-adjusted total returns for its shareholders, and to appropriately compensate for the risks associated with them. The Company aims to achieve this by constructing and actively managing a portfolio, including major agency RMBS and to a lesser extent non-agency RMBS. The Company may also acquire other types of residential mortgage loans and real estate related asset classes such as residential whole mortgage loans, RMBS and residential real estate. The company believes that being able to combine agency RMBS and non-agency RMBS, as well as other residential mortgage loans and real estate-related assets, enables it to balance a range of mortgage-related risks.
Formed as an initial strategic enterprise through an Ellington affiliate, the Company is a venture capital management firm and registered investment advisor with an 18-year history of investing in a wide range of mortgage-backed securities and related derivatives, with a focus on the RMBS market and Blackstone funds.
