Chevron Corporation was founded in Delaware in 1926. The company manages investments in subsidiaries and affiliates and provides administrative, financial, managerial and technical support to US and international subsidiaries engaged in integrated energy and chemical businesses. Upstream businesses primarily include exploration, development and production of crude oil and natural gas; processing, liquefaction, transportation and regasification related to liquefied natural gas; transportation of crude oil through major international oil export pipelines; transportation, storage and sale of natural gas; and a natural gas production plant. The downstream business mainly includes the refining of crude oil into petroleum products; the marketing of crude oil and refined oil; the transportation of crude oil and refined oil through pipelines, ships, electrical equipment and trams; and the manufacture and sale of commodity petrochemical products, industrial plastics and fuel and lubricant additives.
