Qatar Airways has been named the Airline of the Year 2024 by Skytrax, beating out Singapore Airlines. Three European carriers—Turkish Airlines, Air France-KLM, and Swiss International Air Lines—made the top 10, while Middle Eastern and Asian airlines dominated the higher rankings. The awards, based on 21 million passenger surveys across 350 airlines, also recognized Qatar Airways for its business class, lounge, and service. No European or North American airlines made the top five, with East Asian airlines also making the list.

In a striking shift in the global aviation landscape, Qatar Airways has claimed the title of the World's Best Airline of 2024, according to the prestigious Skytrax awards [1]. This recognition marks the eighth time the Doha-based carrier has clinched the top spot, having previously held the title from 2011 to 2019.

Singapore Airlines, which held the title in the previous year, now ranks as the second-best airline globally [1]. The Middle Eastern airline's ascension to the top is a testament to its commitment to exceptional service, innovation, and customer satisfaction.

Asian carriers dominated the top ten rankings, with no European or North American airlines making the cut [1]. The region's carriers, including ANA All Nippon Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Japan Airlines, Turkish Airlines, and EVA Air, have consistently demonstrated their prowess in delivering world-class flying experiences.

Skytrax compiles the annual awards based on over 21 million passenger surveys across 350 airlines [1]. The customer surveys cover various aspects of air travel, including check-in, boarding, in-flight entertainment, and overall service quality.

Qatar Airways was not only recognized as the World's Best Airline but also as the top airline in the Middle East and the world's best business class [1]. The airline's exceptional lounges and attentive service were also highly regarded by passengers.

The awards ceremony also honored Singapore Airlines for its outstanding cabin crew and first-class offerings, as well as Malaysia's AirAsia and Singapore's Scoot for their exceptional value in the low-cost segment [1].

In North America, Delta Air Lines topped the regional rankings, followed by Air Canada, United Airlines, Porter Airlines, and Air Transat [1]. However, the presence of only three North American carriers in the top ten underscores the strong competition from Asian and Middle Eastern carriers.

As the global aviation industry continues to evolve, the Skytrax awards serve as a valuable benchmark for identifying the world's best airlines and celebrating their achievements in delivering exceptional flying experiences.
