"In 2024, AI applications will just take off. AI is the most transformative technology in the past 50 years, and it is reshaping industries and our lives in ways we can't even imagine today," Lisa Su, AMD's board chairman and CEO, said in her speech at the "ADVANCING AI" AMD AI PC Innovation Summit held in Beijing on March 18.

Su said that hardware alone is not enough, and software is also needed; for AMD, one of the most important things is to work with the open-source community to promote technological progress.

"ROCm is our open-source software platform. We have added a lot of new features and functions to make it easier for customers to deploy our technology in their software environments. Now, we see that open source can truly accelerate the pace of innovation in artificial intelligence. We are committed to building an open and developer-friendly ecosystem for artificial intelligence."

"Our chips are powering many AI applications," Su said. "We have increased the speed of genome analysis by 100 times, helping doctors quickly diagnose life-threatening diseases; we are also powering some AI supply chains and optimizing logistics in real-time to help businesses run smoothly."

Su said that some of the applications she is most interested in are medical breakthroughs, scientific research, building smarter and more efficient factories, and truly improving the productivity of every business and every industry.

"One of the most important things people haven't fully realized yet is that there is no universal standard for AI computing, and only AMD has a complete high-performance CPU and GPU product portfolio to address a wide range of AI workloads," Su said.

According to Su, AMD values its cooperation with local Chinese enterprises, such as providing hardware support for the deployment of the R1 model on the first day of DeepSeek and cooperating with the Qwen model of Ali's SenseTime to optimize AI development.
